Here are some things I did not to si.
Here are some of the things that helped me when I was depressed.
One was listing to music every time I wanted to cut myself I would turn on the radio and I would listen to a song depending on my mood.
If I was Depressed feeling worthless I would listen to song's like "Desparado,by the Eagles"
Other times if I felt angry at myself and needed to cut I would play somthing like "Another one bites the dust,by Queen"
Music can really help.
I would also write when I was down I would write about how I was feeling and it wasent long until I had pages written down.
I beleve writing is a very good theripy beucase it helps you to get it all out of your system and onto the paper and when I was finished I felt a lot better.
It helps a lot to try to keep your mind off of cutting for instance if your in so much pain you feel you simply have to cut go watch a sad movie one where at the end you will cry,and crying is good it helps you,when your finished you feel better.
I found often that crying really took away the urge to cut beucase I started cutting as in (not to cry i would just go cut instead)
So I think that cutting starts from holding back tears.

THIS IS A SUGGUSTION FROM SOMONE I MET ONLINE.
She said that if you take a bath in the dark and cover all the mirrors you will distract yourself from doing self injury.
Mabey you could use a small candel to see what you are doing,anways she gave me permission to put this on my page,so I hope this helps someone.

Another thing that helped me through depression and is still my best friend is Brian (my guitar) no I'm not a guitar expert just an ordanary person who was looking for some way to express my feelings inside,and for me music is the best way.I go play my guitar no matter how sad I am I can always be brought back to the light again.
To those out there who enjoy music,mabey you can try learning to play an instrument and take your time,and if you find you enjoy the music keep learning>I write songs and I am planning to get a band together after college,I need band members through.Anyways I just wanted to place that suggestion on the page,cause I am a music lover and I never thought it was in me to play music and I have learned that it is.Everyone has a talent or somthing they do good in.My advice is just keep trying and searching yourself for that somthing inside of you that is missing that somthing that you love,we all have it.

Music don't work for everyone.
Even if your not in to music,some people find that music makes them feel worse,cause it reminds them of how sad they are (I have personally never encountered that)but some people have.
If music dosent work for you then you may try reading or taking a hot shower(when you shower be shure to rid the bathroom of any and all razors or anything that you can find that you can hurt yourself with beffore showering) I think the best time to do that is when your not in a "cutting" mood.
If you rid the bathroom of these things beffore you are in this kind of mood then you will not be tempted when you are.
Art theripy.
There are two diffrent types of art theripy that I know of.
One is where you take four diffrent color's of paint and use them on paper ,each color has a meaning.(red anger) (blue sadness) (black depressed) (grey deth)what you do is take these colors and paint how your feeling in blots of paint or lines however it helps you.When I needed to cut I would take another sheet of paper,and cut it and dip it in red paint,and slide it on the paper and pretend I was cutting(that helped a lot).

Then there is the kind where you draw a picture repersenting yourself and then draw what you want to do to yourself over and over until the urge passes. ( I have done this a lot,and it has proven to be very helpful to me)

:NOTE IF YOU TRY THIS THERIPY WHERE YOU DRAW YOURSELF AND THE THINGS YOU WANT TO DO.IF YOU DO NOT WANT YOUR FAMILY TO KNOW ABOUT WHAT YOU DO THROW THE PAPER AWAY WHEN YOUR DONE:

The cloths pin thing(instead of a razor)
The cloths pin thing is somthing that I thought up.It (really helped me a whole lot) Take a cloths pin to where you want to cut,and pinch the skin as hard as you can,and close your eyes and imagine that your using a razor,and it feels the same.
If you don't have a cloths pin you can aways use your fingers just be careful not to break your skin with your fingernails.

You could also try the ice thingie.
This is somthing else I made up.
find an ice tray,fill it up only a little bit of water to where there is a shallow amout of water in the tray,you might want to use black food coloring and put it in the icetray beffore the water becomes ice.(this is to give more of a razor like look)
let it freze.When its frozen take out the ice and use the ice instead of a actual razor.
If going straght across with it like you do a razor doesent work,then just sink the ice into your skin until it burns like a razor does.
